Faction Insights: Marocia
Situated on the shores of the Grey Sea, Marocia is a fiercely independent kingdom forged through centuries of resistance against imperial rule. Its identity is rooted in rebellion, resilience, and the hard-won unity of its proud lords.
Now ruled by Ezbard the Great from the twin-city of Pyrestone, it stands at a crossroads, prosperous yet restless, with old wounds and new ambitions stirring beneath its feudal peace.
On the Table
Marocian Warbands are made up of Men At Arms, mounted Lancers, and Great War Veterans. Each boasts a wide range of wargear to choose from, and their high Nerve values make them a reliable force on the tabletop.
Strengths
Marocian Warbands pride themselves on their versatility, able to take robust shieldwalls, spearmen, archers, and even hard hitting halberdiers. The Great War Veterans take this one step further, being one of the only normal Units in the game to have access to every Hand Weapon in the game, from Swords to Caesti.
Hardened by the Great War Against the North, Marocian Warriors are also braver than most other human factions, able to hold ground even as others flee.
Finally, Marocians benefit from excellent synergy. Men at Arms, Lancers, and Leader Units all gain the Rank and File Special Rule, increasing their Resilience so long as they stay in formation.
Weaknesses
For all their versatility, the Marocians do not really excel in any one field. They are the jack of all trades faction, good at everything, and great at nothing.
Finally, the Marocians are also limited in terms of raw fighting power, with no Unit sporting any more than a standard +0 Melee Score under most circumstances. This makes them more likely to lose Battle Rolls, opening them up to Strikes.
Marocian Leaders
Marocian Leaders gain the Rank and File Special Rule, and a bonus to their Nerve Value, making them both hard to hurt, and hard to route. What's more, is that Marocian Characters with the Soldier or Commander Specialism may take the Grizzled Veteran Advanced Specialism, further increasing their durability.
Colour Schemes
Marocians go into battle wearing the colours of their Lords. For example, Halric's Hardheads wear the ivory and turquoise of House Venn, while the warriors of house Redhound wear crimson and russet, House Torrovid wears orange and grey, and House Alfather wears burdgundy and violet.
There are dozens of different noble houses currently active in Marocia, giving painters a wealth of opportunities to bring their own colours to the tabletop!
Interested in starting your own Marocian Warband? Start with Halric's Hardheads. They're a fantastic base for any warband, and with a little converting, can easily become Great War Veterans, or even Characters!
