Theodred, Prince of Rohan: A Love Letter to Classic MESBG

Theodred, Prince of Rohan: A Love Letter to Classic MESBG

I'm sure you'll have seen Games Workshop's most recent surprise release for MESBG, Theodred, Prince of Rohan.

Now, I'm not one of these guys who claps like a seal whenever GW releases anything, as you'll likely already know. But I do like to give credit where it's due, and I must say that the new Theodred is simply fantastic.

It feels like something produced in the days before the release of War of the Rohirrim, carrying that classic grounded style that made me fall in love with Peter Jackson's interpetation of Middle Earth.

As you can see, it's a huge improvement on the classic miniature which, no offense to the designer, is not the best. I mean, take a look at that side profile!

It doesn't help that the on foot and mounted versions look totally unalike, even their armour isn't the same colour.

I've never been the biggest fan of Rohan in game, partly because I'm a hipster that seems to avoid any faction that seems popular, but the release of this new Theodred has got me considering a Fords of Isen army.

What do you think of the new Theodred, is he a classic return to form, or a relic from an age gone by? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
